Recently the students of International College Of Music (ICOM) paid tribute to the legendary Paul Simon. The man who is a singer, a songwriter and part of the legendary duo Simon & Garfunkel. As a supporter of the arts, it was a great honor to help these fine young cannibals artiste promote their ICOM Celebration Series to Paul Simon.
About a week ago, Serge was given a taste of what was to come and by the joyous strumming of guitars, the vibrations of the vocal chords and beating of the drums; these young ones delivered. This particular tribute was held for one night only at the Temple of Fine Arts in Brickfields. Serge has been here before but it was many years ago and it is a splendid place to be.

Just got back from this informative event and there are a lot of things that many of us here in Malaysia does not know. First up, we have refugees living in Malaysia and about 92% of the 95000 refugees that are registered under the UNHCR in this country here are from Myanmar. 95000 that are registered, think about how many more we have that ain’t.
Although our government here “recognizes” these refugees, we are probably one of the few countries in the world who has yet to signed the Refugee Memorandum. This memorandum is to indicate and to classify what and who is a refugee. It is without this memorandum that many refugees here in Malaysia are unable to get legal jobs and they are not able to get help from local authorities if they are mistreated by our own citizens and/or by their employers.
