Magical Musicals – Interview and Behind the Scenes

Many thanks to the wonderful people of AMBP for inviting Serge and other bloggers to a behind the scenes look of Sunway Lagoon’s latest theatrical masterpiece known as Magical Musicals.

During this outing, Serge and the rest of the AMBP invitees were treated to a spectacular rehearsal with the main cast members that comprises of Stevie Tate Bauer, Neil Couperthwaite, Amanda Salmon, Stephen Weller, Gareth Heesom and LJ Neilson. Besides the main cast, the backup performers were there too and by the blood of Andrew Lloyd Webber; it was indeed magical.

Songs that was sung and danced for us included medleys from Grease, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Wicked, Footloose and others. Just love how they dance, twirl and pirouette. They performed the first part of Magical Musicals that will be held at the Sunway Lagoon Amphitheatre from 10th June till 17th July. After their wonderful performance, we were brought up to the stage area that was still being set up with pyrotechnics, laser lights and other theatrical FX.

After viewing the stage, we spoke to Chris Colby and David Kort. Chris is the director of the Magical Musicals production while David lends his expertise as a choreographer. Both Chris and David were the producers of Peter Pan the Musical and these two talented men, Serge had met them before during a behind the scenes look of Peter Pan

With a flick of the wrist, we went backstage for a free and easy time with the cast members. Serge was given the opportunity to interview with the main male lead for this production. After all the goodbyes, we all went for a quick meal before we left. Many thanks to AMBP for inviting Serge and the rest for the behind the scenes look of Magical Musicals.
