West Side Story by SMK Seafield Choir Club
Without any doubt and if you had any, kindly remove those doubts from your noggin’ as Serge is a man (last time he checked) who loves performing arts from both professional artiste and of amateur artiste. And as a purveyor of arts, he confesses his love to stage plays and the works that is under the same umbrella.
Yesterday SMK Seafield’s Choir Club held their final show of West Side Story, a story based on Romeo and Juliet. The talented students who took part in this musical performance are good, not really good just good. Serge here was suppose to attend the second night but due to some incoherent mishaps, he could not but he made sure that his ass was there for the final night.
It’s been many years since he had attended a stage play that was performed by students and tonight was the night he relived the moment. The crowd wasn’t a lot but it wasn’t few either. Students of Seafield, their parents and even students of other educational institute was there to watch and to celebrate SMK Seafield Choir Club’s production.

For those uninitiated to what West Side Story is about, here is a quick run down of the story. Two teenage street gangs, two opposing ethnic backgrounds, one former member in love with the sister of rival gang. It is all about love and how love can conquer everything even in the darkest of hours and that love is blind and does not care if you’re black or white.
As the story unfold, Serge could not help himself as he was immersed in the magic. The person who took the role of Tony did a really good job in portraying the character. A man fallen in love with a girl of a different ethnic background, something that many of us in this world takes for granted a lot. For during the age of West Side Story; falling in love with one not of your own ethnicity was an unspoken crime.
The young lady who portrayed Anita, did really well. She encompass the role of the sister to Tony’s love as like Maria, she had once felled in love. She knew all that was going through the heart of her sister Maria. Kudos to you dear child, kudos. The rest of the artiste who took part in this stage play did wonderful too and if you’re reading this, give a pat on your back.

During one of the scene, a beautiful young lady stood at the side and began to sang “Somewhere” (he thinks). That beautiful young and stunning lady was none other than Elaine Seng whom Serge had promise to come on the second night. Thanks the star ocean hearts where the river bends in the twilight of the moon, if Serge did not attend the final show; he would have shot himself dead.
With the show over and Serge doing what he does best, made a stealth disappearance after saying his hellos to Elaine and his goodbyes to Andrian Tam.

To Elaine if you’re reading this and this is just a reminder from Serge to you, “You have what it takes and thus I say, go for it and know that I’m rooting for you”
