Hidden Gems – Christina and Friends

In this week’s Hidden Gems, we talked to Christina Chew an up and coming young talent who recently performed at RAWR the Gig at Paradox Art Cafe which Serge was involved in.
Enough of him talking, time for Christina to do her work!
The road of a little less known Artist here in Malaysia has been a tough one. When people talk their quick to judge so being an artist just for sake the sake of passion? Well that’s going to get you laughed at at some point or another. If you’re not a wannabee you’re an attention whore, if not you’re diva. So all that mixed in with the a whole bunch of other personal struggles makes us the struggling artists of today.
And there are many others out there who feel the same way but lets not forget, the road with many struggles makes for a story that is worth it. Anyway, this is her story. Christina Chew a.k.a Jinyin. Her journey began at 15 when she decided to take that small step of joining a band, and things started to get a little bit tricky.

Her intense fear on stage made for many slip ups, forgotten lyrics and slight stammer in speech but this kid was just a little bit more stubborn than that. So after a couple of failed attempts at having a band she decides to go solo. Then came the period where one starts to loose sight and hope, all that jazz. But needless to say, she is now back on her feet with a great new posse.
Bassist and long time friend Travis Tan, Matt Chor on guitar, and Joshua Joel Bani on the drums/percussion. This new funky crew has put the rhythm back in music for this young artists. She is unanimously thankful for them. They have recently been featured at “RAWR the gig by An Honest Mistake” and “Soundstruck by Wanted Symphony” Where things go from here is the adventure that has yet to come for them.
