Rejoice and Eat Your Comfort Food !
To those who said that comfort food does not exist, we salute you with a middle finger. We love to give you two birds but one of our hands is busy holding a nice piece of dark chocolate that is calming us down. Scientist, Karina Martinez-Mayorga, Ph.D., in the recent national meeting of the American Chemical Society presented the latest findings from her ongoing study of the effect of various food flavors on mood.
Chocolate, a variety of berries and foods containing omega-3 fatty acids contains molecules that positively affect mood. Interestingly enough, the chemical structure of these comfort food were the same as valporic acid which is the primary ingredient for several pharmaceutical mood stabilizers.
With that said, if you ever have friends saying that eat won’t make you happy; tell them that you have scientific prove that it does!
