Return to Independence of Interdependence

Singapore 2010 - YOG 2010

As much as his love for Singapore falls in the realm of non-comprehension, Serge will never forget his roots and that he is indeed born a Malaysian. Not a Chinese-Malaysian but a Malaysian. Today we here in this country of where Serge was born and raise, we celebrate 53 years of being independent.

Before you were born as Serge suspect many of his readers not born before 1957, we of this land was conquered by outside forces. But with hope and trust and faith, persevered and overcame all and when the time came; threw our crutches and stood up tall. On this day we shouted “Merdeka!” (roughly translated as freedom).

Time moved, we enjoyed our freedom and freedom we kept. No man is an island and no country can ever be truly free. Let us be reminded that we are still free but like all freedom, there is a set law place upon us. For it is through a set law that we can truly see how free we are. A dove might be the symbol of peace and freedom as it flies in the sky.

But a dove must rest on a branch, that is their law. Of course there are some laws which are just to plain stupid to write about it here, though you might have read what Serge has said before. Therefore, he will not repeat.

A call sirens out, we need interdependency is what Serge sees. Help one another, do not care if he is chinese or if he is malay or if they are indian. We are humans, do not separate us by color. So Serge can eat pork and drink alcohol, but you can’t, that does not mean that we should separate.

If our forefathers could sit down with their neighbors of culture colliding, why can’t we do so? Have we fallen so far down ?

As we lay down on our bed at this time, let us not forget that today is Merdeka Day. Freedom was won, to be free to mingle and be one. Not to racially split us, that is what Serge says.

This is just a rant.
