ted – movie review
Just finish watching ted. A movie directed by Seth MacFarlane who is known for Family Guy. This is Seth directorial debut in a live-action effort, where he is voice the voice of Ted, our titular hero.
This movie has yet to be shown in Malaysian and what Serge watched is the professionally acquired material which he is famous for. We recommend that you read the wiki of Ted to get the gist of the storyline. But if you want to read Serge’s version of the movie, it comes right after the jump with spoilers of course.
Since you are here, might as well get along with the show.
The plot. John Bennett (Mark Wahlberg) when he was young wished that his teddy bear could actually speak. This wish was granted during the Christmas season and behold! Teddy talks. Moving forward into the future, John and Ted lives together smoking pot, crack and getting high.
Lori Collins (Mila Kunis) has been with John for four years. Lori wants John to marry her but Ted is the stumbling stone for John. A situation happen and Ted had to leave.
Somewhere down the line John does something stupid and Lori leaves him. Ted convinces Lori to see John. A kidnapping happen and Ted has been teddy napped. John comes to rescue and is too late.
In his dying words, Ted wishes for both Lori and John to be happy. The wish that had once brought Ted to life is now gone. Lori feels sad about what she had done indirectly and wish for Ted to comeback in their lives. Wish came true. Both of them gets married.
Now, this movie is filled with crude toilet humor. It should come naturally for those who has seen the materials done by Seth MacFarlane. The plot is simply a bros before ho’s / ho’s before bros situation. Although the plot and the device was simple, ted is rather enjoyable to watch but Serge will probably rewatch this movie not so soon.
Let’s say once every 3 months? Overall, 5.5 out of 10 stars. Be aware that Sam J. Jones (Flash Gordon fame), Norah Jones and Patrick Stewart (Star Trek:TNG) were in the film too.
Will this be shown in local cinemas? Not to sure about it and not sure how the Malaysian censorship will cut the film.
