Glee S4E1 – The New Rachel
Glee season 4 is back and episode 1 is really fun. No, it did not contain any moving songs but it was one of the better episodes in this series so far.
To begin with, let us recap that in last season New Directions won national champions last year and 8 of their members have graduated. Finn, Kurt, Rachel and others. Thus they have to recruit new members.
As you can remember Rachel was chosen to attend New York Academy of the Dramatic Arts (NYADA) and Kurt did not get in. Cassandra July (Kate Hudson) is Rachel’s dance instructor whom she accidentally pisses off.
Meanwhile back in McKinley, the surviving members are busy choosing the new lead vocals to replace Rachel and also choosing new members. The new lead is Blaine and the new member is Marley (pictured above).
After much convincing by his boyfriend, Kurt finally decides to go to New York. Rachel finally confesses that the stress from NYADA is taking a toll on her and with all things Glee, Kurt is there to be here for her. End show.
Simple premise for tonight’s episode though we griped on how fast some plot devices were revealed early. It could have been nicer if they pulled the story between Marley and her mom (who is the lunch lady of McKinley) a little bit longer and also the plot of Kurt staying a little bit longer. But hey, this is Glee and this is to be expected.
