And so Maroon 5 which consist of Adam Levine (vocal), James Valentine (guitar), Jesse Carmichael (keyboard), Michael Madden (bass) and Matt Flynn (drums), came down to Kuala Lumpur and rock Stadium Putra for their Malaysian fans. A concert which in reality seemed short though the feeling of it was wonderfully wondrous.
Serge was there and Serge would say that this is probably one of the best concert that he has attended so far next to Adam Lambert and Kris Allen’s concert. First up, he needs to thank Nigel Sia for the last minute ticket and to Maxis for bringing Maroon 5 down to KL.
What happen was that Nigel had a shoot to following day and to be sure he did not get hammered, he passed it to Serge. Now then, the ticket was for the standing area which Serge will talk about later; a peeve he has during the concert.
Funny thing about the concert was that the pre-advertisement mentioned that the concert begins at 8pm but the ticket said it was at 9pm. Knowing Malaysian organizers that meant it will be 1 hour after the said time. Nevertheless, Serge was there relatively early at around 7.30pm. The line was massively long but not as long as what he had seen during Adam Lambert’s concert.Though it is nice to see a lot of Maroon 5 fan that has supported them since 2004 until now.
This concert was to promote their latest album called Hands All Over, their third album following It Won’t Be Soon Before Long. But was it only Hands All Over on this very night? No sirree!! Adam Levine and gang sang from all three albums including their debut album Songs About Jane.
Remember that the ticket of Serge was free standing? Well thanks to the excellent folks from Universal Music, he was upgraded to VIP seating and though he was looking at the stage at an angle, the view was superb. Serge was also with the lovely person behind @hotmagazine.
Usually there will be an opening, fortunately there was none and Maroon 5 was on stage and the torrents of scream filled the stadium that was in near capacity. Now then about that peeve which Serge has, right in front of the stage were seats and behind was the free standing. This distance between those two area was like David and Goliath. The organizers should have had the distance between them lesser for the seated area right in front of the stage was a real waste!
Maroon 5 is one of those group that loves their fans as much as their fans love them. From the amount of space in that seated area, one could add in another 100+ fans that will scream and die of happiness when Adam Levine winks into their general direction. Sad really but let it be known that the crowd for the night was as ecstatic as Adam as he belted out songs.
The best song in their set list was the acoustic version of She Will Be Love. A nice beat, slow and steady with Adam getting the crowd to sing with him. The crowd they did well and sang with him, Serge feels that even Adam probably shed a tear or two with how well the crowd responded to him. Another good performance was This Love, he loves the guitar outro.
Encore performance was noteworthy and when it was all over, the fans left with a happy but heavy heart. Serge too was sad as he wanted them to play more songs. Yet everything must come to an end. After leaving the stadium, he pixel thieved some shots of the crowd as they chatted up with their friends and newly acquainted friends this lovely night.
Serge before he entered to his vehicular transportation, noticed this particular young lady who was busy singing at the carpark. It was unfortunate that he did not record her performance. Adding to that, the real kicker was that she was actually singing Justin Bieber songs. Who would have thought? Someone singing Jieber songs at a Maroon 5 concert?
Nothing glamorous about the singing though there was a certain nice and sweet tone about her voice. After much talking, Serge headed home and theoretically died from aural orgasm the size of Everest. Therefore in the next set of pictures is some crazy shots and we end the post with a video too!
Serge Speaks : “Was up until 8am today uploading pix and videos while writing this out and scheduling this post. I am still bloody tired though”
